When Bryant found CrossFit in 2007, Lauren was his #1 fan. She was even enthusiastic about remodeling their two-car garage in order to establish their first CrossFit gym. Lauren grew up playing sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball and springboard diving. After taking time off sport for school, career and motherhood, she was out of shape and totally “bleh” about the typical treadmill-and-step-class gym. Summoning up the courage to try CrossFit, Lauren found herself energized by the measurable progress in her fitness, and a community atmosphere that was like being a part of a sports team. In fact, she loved CrossFit so much, she became a certified trainer herself, was in the best shape of her life at 40 years old, and she discovered that her desire to be a motivator and encourager has a perfect outlet within the context of being a coach.

What's your favorite thing about coaching?
Celebrating personal victories with my clients. Seeing that look on someone's face, that says, "I did it!"
Since moving to Kenya, is there something you really miss about America?
Other than my extended family? I miss eating good Mexican food. Just thinking about it is making me drool.
What's the best book you read last year?
The Broken Way, by Ann Voskamp. She's so real. If you haven't read her book, One Thousand Gifts, I recommend you read it first.
What's the most daring thing you've ever done?
Spending the night in a tent with my family on the Maasai Mara seemed pretty crazy to me. But I'd do it again.
